Responsibly sourced...

The Rainforest Alliance is an international, non-profit organisation, working to build a powerful alliance to protect forests, improve the livelihoods of farmers and forest communities, promote their human rights, and help them to mitigate and adapt to the ongoing climate crisis. Rainforest Alliance Certified. Find out more at ra.org.

Through Fairtrade, certified coffee producer organisations are paid the Fairtrade Minimum Price, which is based on producers’ costs of sustainable production and aims to act as a safety net when market prices drop. As well as fairer prices, farmers also earn the Fairtrade Premium, which is an extra sum of money they can invest in business or community projects of their choice.

Our Packaging

Recyclable coffee pouches

Every year, hundreds of thousands of aluminium capsules, coffee pouches, and sachets end up in landfill and incinerators across the UK, all because they’re difficult to recycle. That’s why we’ve updated our packaging – to make doing the right thing, the easy thing.

All our coffee beans and ground packaging are now being phased into a mono PP material (mono poly propylene). This flexible plastic not only keeps coffee fresher for longer, it’s also 100% recyclable. You just need to drop it off at a flexible plastic collection point where plastic bags can be recycled – available at most large supermarkets across the UK. Find your nearest here.

Podback partnership

Our capsules are made from 80% recycled aluminium, and thanks to our Podback partnership, all Ueshima Nespresso® compatible aluminium capsules can be recycled easily, free of charge. Podback is a nationwide, not-for-profit coffee pod recycling service, to give people who enjoy the quality and taste of coffee pods simple and easy ways to recycle them.

Podback collects pods in two different collection systems: local authority collection and Drop-Off. You can see which service is available to you based on where you live here.

Once you’ve ordered your free Podback recycling bag, pop in your empty capsules – ensuring you drain any liquids. Bags can hold up to 150 empty capsules, and should be sealed when ready for sending. When you’re ready, use the Podback Recycle Checker to discover how and where to recycle near you.

Some local authorities now provide Podback recycling containers at Household Waste Recycling Centres. Store your pods in whatever you like, then drop them off at the Podback container (available for both aluminium and plastic pods).

Once you’ve ordered your free Podback recycling bags, depending on where you live, you can recycle your pods through your local council’s household waste and recycling collection services. Check if you can use Kerbside collection based on where you live here.

Please note: These are different bags to those ordered for kerbside collection – they’re not interchangeable.

Delivered to your door

For every coffee order delivered to your door we use 100% recycled cardboard and water-based inks that are much gentler on the environment than traditional plastisol inks.

When you're finished with your delivery box, simply recycle it with all of your other household paper and cardboards.
